In celebration of Incredibles 2 premiering this week in theaters on 6/15, I’ll be sharing with you exclusive cast interviews. The interviews will post daily this week and next week. Today kicks off the official celebration with Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson the voices of Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. I’m so excited the 14-year wait is almost over!
“A film for everyone” Holly Hunter
The Incredibles was an enormous success! How did you feel about doing the sequel were you onboard right away?
We were not hesitant in wanting to do this, this sequel.- Holly
It was exciting because it’s been fourteen years. I thought what is he going to do; what are they gonna come up with; how can it be different; what’s- where are we gonna pick it up? I mean, we didn’t know anything. I wasn’t sure if I could do it vocally, you know? Because I’d been doing Parenthood and Zeek had a different quality a different vocal quality, so that meant I was kind of the trepidation nerve for me and anxiety. We never saw the script Brad kind of laid out the idea which was great. It sounded like it was gonna be fun.– Craig
You guys have distinctive voices, obviously, which plays well with the movie. Do you find that you get recognized, like, people’s heads turn around when they hear you speak behind them? Are you being recognized through your voice?
If I don’t want to be recognized I don’t talk it’s a giveaway, like, with one syllable. – Holly
Craig talks candidly about the beauty of education and how communication with kids is so different today. I can relate no one talks to one another anymore when spending time with the younger generation.
When I was raised, the beauty of the education that I received was that it was you were classically trained. You had classic literature to refer, it was given to you, and performed for you. So, you learned words, you learned communication. When I visit my grandkids we’re not talking to each other.
What is it like to hear toys that sound like you and how does it feel to know you’re going to be on a roller coaster at Disneyland? (The Incredicoaster opens 6/22)
Wow, it’s kind of cool I love it and I think it’s fun. Holly
One of my great grandsons has his whole room decorated in Incredibles this kid has got a car you go in and it’s like a Pixar. It’s amazing!-Craig
Were you able to improv when you were recording the script you guys have great chemistry?
No Brad brings the chemistry that the cast has together what he does is phenomenal. Brad had a chemistry in mind that was audio because that’s the kind of guy that he is, that’s the kind of artist that he is. Craig and I never met each other until about nine months ago. That’s the first time that we met each other so that chemistry is inherent within us. His imagination was at work putting the chemistry together. – Holly
After many years of waiting I’m excited Incredibles 2 drops in theaters June 16th I can’t wait to take my family to see it. In INCREDIBLES 2 is back their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
