My Reflections On Redeeming Love The Movie

“Redeeming Love” is based on a best-selling novel by Francine Rivers, set during the California Gold Rush and inspired by the Biblical story of Hosea, a prophet, who married Gomer, a woman who is well known around her brothel. Sold into prostitution as a child, Angel knows nothing but betrayal. Can her heart ever be mended?

Redeeming Love has a heavy focus on redemption and self-forgiveness. Angel’s pain offers an insightful view on the struggle of self-condemnation. Michael Hosea sees more in Angel so one day he walks into her bedroom and wants to do nothing other than talk.

Can love really heal all things? You’ll have to watch the movie to answer that. Redeeming Love premieres in theaters tomorrow.

  1. Around 2004, we listened to the reading of Redeeming Love on Radio CCFM in Cape Town. Francine Rivers really did a most commendable job. And, as Livi Birch is involved, I guess what we two geriatrix will be doing tonight. It’s movie night!!
