Bellamy Young is an amazing actress who truly loves her fans. She’s so passionate and personable extremely down to earth. I’m a fan for life and the interview with Bellamy Young is one I will never forget.
During a recent roundtable interview she took time to share with we got the tea on how:
-
Bellamy Young got involved with the film “A Wrinkle In Time”
-
Reflections on Working With Ava DuVernay for the adaptation of the film.
-
The inside scoop on Scandal Crossover and much more so check out the highlights…
How Bellamy Young Got Involved With The Film “A Wrinkle In Time”
“Ava directed an episode during the second season. Afterward, she called and ask Bellamy Young if she would like to do a two-day movie. Bellamy shared with us during the interview she gladly accepted and would have said yes if it meant planting in the garden because she just wants to be there.”
Bellamy Young Reflects On Working With Ava And The Book “A Wrinkle In Time”.
“Working with Ava is a dream she’s such a visionary. The book meant everything to me when I was a kid. So, even the tiny little bit, just to be a part of something that might get other kids to read the book or get excited about it. It’s so easy, right, when the gift is true and enduring and really, really, like, in the marrow of who you are. She’s such a great leader and a visionary. So generous, her truth is reducible! She’s just such a generous spirit and such a wise mind. Like I just really think she’s changed the game.”
One of my favorite parts of the interview was when Bellamy spoke about “individuality”. “Being yourself is your greatest gift.
Like, your greatest superpower is your individuality and being brave enough to explore that can instantly break you free of any of the ties of the greater out there, and the greater darkness. It will literally free you.”
Let’s Talk Scandal! Lessons learned from playing the role as Mellie Grant.
“I was only supposed to be on the show 5 minutes so first you show up and you do your best work even when it’s two lines, and you might not be there for a minute. You never know what’s going to turn into your dream. You never know which lottery ticket might pay, so always showing up for yourself, and doing your best work, regardless. But, Mellie, man, she does not care if people are comfortable. I want everybody to be happy all the time. Mellie could care less. So, spending 16 hours a day as a sort of like my way or the highway has been very informative. I don’t think I will ever learn in that direction, but it does remind me that there are many ways to be. Many acceptable ways to walk through this life and it has been a deep privilege an enduring privilege to get to have been her.”
Bellamy Is Already On To Her Next Project…
I get to do a pilot for ABC called “False Profits” which I am so excited about its such feel-fest over at work, right now.
The Scandal Crossover…
We don’t even know anything far enough in advance to get excited about it. I didn’t know about it until I walked into the room to read the table to read the script and they were like, P.S. How to Get Away with Scandal. I got to act with Viola Davis ya’ll like ahh! I cannot focus on this because I have a day with Viola Davis.”
Day Off Wardrobe What Does Bellamy Wear… this response had me in tears of laughter because I can relate.
“Fat pants. Fat pants. Fat pants, and sneakers. I am the worst woman I don’t like to shop or be uncomfortable.” I love her realness plus folks every hard-working woman deserves day off! No judgement here count me in Bellamy Young.
Scandal Behind The Scene Memories
“The first thing that comes to mind is like, all the times that I’ve had with all of the Scandal girls. he times we had together, like, the correspondents’ dinner together. The first time we got to do Good Morning America together and people showed up we’ve just gone through everything together.”
