While in town, in honor of the Blu-ray & Digital release of Christopher Robin I had the chance to gather with friends to enjoy a “Friendsgiving” meal inspired by Pooh’s favorite thing, hunny, and after lunch I had the chance to interview the voice of “Pooh” & “Tigger”, Jim Cummings! In this post I’m going to share with you photo’s from the each and experience and my highlights from the interview with Jim Cummings.

The L.A Arboretum and Botanical Gardens transformed one the park spaces  into the 100 Acre Woods which is where the interviewing with Jim Cummings was held and the Friendsgiving lunch. Check out the beautiful settings and Friendsgiving Christopher Robins display.

I truly enjoyed the opportunity to interview Jim Cummings here are my favorite highlights.

Jim Cummings Thoughts After Seeing Christopher Robin

“It was magic for me the new movie was charming. I like it the experience as much as if I was had nothing to do with it. I walk in like look at that that’s a big honey jar that’s perfect. I’m just enjoying it like there’s no tomorrow.I loved it. I thought it was a great idea if Christopher Robin grew up and turned into a person, got stuck working like the rest of us. What was that? World War II? What if Pooh and the gang went out there and kinda saved him returned the favor after all those waterfalls that he saved us from. So, it’s great.

When Did  Jim Cummings First Recognize His Talent

“I started off as a really annoying child it was probably very early on when I was doing dolphin noises “we don’t have dolphins here at Saint Columbia, said Sister Mary Agnes.” Well, they do now. I was always that kid that enjoyed being in plays I wanted be the ogre, hermit, weirdo or wizard instead of the little prince. I was probably inadvertently doing research for this now.

Which Character does Jim Cummings Relate To The Most

“Probably Tigger. Darkwing Duck maybe aww, that was my favorite character. “I am the terror that flaps in the night.” I like Hondo Ohnaka from Star Wars Clone Wars and he didn’t use to be a Disney character, but he is now. Ray from Princess and the Frog is one of my favorites all-time.”

Jim Cummings Favorite Quote For Pooh & Tigger

“You’re stronger than you seem, braver than you believe.”

Jim Cummings Favorite Memory Since He’s Been The Voice Of Winnie The Pooh and Tigger

“It was about 18 years ago and my agent called up and said, well, there’s this little guy in Washington he’s 11. His Dad thinks he’s picking you out on the Wheaties commercial. Apparently he would sit and watch the Disney afternoon and would lean over to his dad and go, it’s Jim Cummings. That’s Jim Cummings as different characters. I was in a lot of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers episodes and he was nailin’ it they don’t really sound alike.

His Dad called and said well his therapist thought maybe we should call you (Jim Cummings)and I was fine with that. Hey buddy talking to the how you doin’? It’s Jim Cummings the kid says, “good now, I think that you should do the voice of the organ grinder who is the third of the Mask but oddly enough has not been a recurring character even though I can only imagine that people have really responded highly to him. Now I think that you should do the voice of Bonkers D. Bobcat who is of course, the very first toon detective.

About 45 minutes later I asked is your dad around can I talk to your dad? That’d be good. So he goes and he gets  his dad. He says I’m sorry I had no idea his mother wants to talk to you and she gets on the phone, and she can’t even talk. She’s crying like crazy. She goes well he doesn’t do this he doesn’t speak. I went this chatter box? This kid who I couldn’t shut him up. She said, well, he stopped when he was three he’s 11 now. That’s one of the stories.”

In Disney’s heartwarming live action adventures with his stuffed animal friends in the Hundred Acre Wood has grown up and lost sight of what’s important in life. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin rediscover the joys of family life, the value of friendship and to appreciate the simple pleasure in life once again. Christopher Robin will be available on Blu-ray and Digital tomorrow November 6th.
