Jamaica Update: Our Hearts Are With the Island

Springer Travel Adventures thoughts are with the people of Jamaica as the island begins to recover from the devastating storm that swept across earlier this week.

St. James Parish, which includes Montego Bay, is among the most severely affected areas. Reports indicate widespread power outages, with over 70% of the island without electricity and many communication lines still down.

While Ocho Rios experienced damage as well, early information suggests it was not as hard-hit as Montego Bay. Sadly, images and reports emerging from affected communities are truly heartbreaking.

Travel & Airport Updates:

✈️ Montego Bay Airport (MBJ): Closed due to significant damage.

✈️ Ocho Rios Airport: Closed.

✈️ Kingston Airport (KIN): The government has reported it fared better than other regions. Plans are underway to reopen Thursday for emergency flights only.

🕓 Communication with local partners (Amstar): Last contact was around 7 PM on October 28 before outages impacted connectivity.

We are monitoring updates from local authorities, travel suppliers, and on-the-ground partners closely. Our priority remains the safety of residents, visitors, and our clients with upcoming travel to Jamaica.

Please keep the people of Jamaica in your thoughts as they begin the long process of rebuilding. The people of Jamaica are like family to us. One of top destinations so we will do what we can to help. 💚💛🖤
