Fiesta! Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually on May 5. It’s a popular holiday in the United States, many don’t know what it is we’re all celebrating each year. While often mistaken in the U.S. to be Mexico’s Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo actually celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
Now that I’ve clarified the true meaning behind Cinco de Mayo I would love to share with you this year’s celebration cocktail recipe.
Chili Mango Margaritas
Makes 2 to 3 margaritas )depending on the size of the glasses.)
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups frozen mango
1/4 cup triple sec
1/4 cup tequila
1/2 cup mango juice
2 teaspoons chili seasoning or tajin
Instructions:
In a blender place frozen mango, triple sec, tequila, and mango juice. Blend mixture until all the frozen mango is smooth. If you need more liquid and it’s too thick add very little mango juice at a time.
Wet the rim of the glass and place in chili seasoning. Pour into the glass. Serve topped with mango chunks.
